Singapore's new landmark: Supertree Grove
Singapore's unique vertical garden
Supertree grove is a tree-shaped structure with a height of 25 to 50 meters. These unique vertical gardens create amazing elements through the vertical display of tropical climbing plants, epiphytes and ferns. The air corridor connects the towering giant trees together, allowing tourists to sit down and enjoy the beauty of the garden. There is a treetop tavern built in the 50-meter-high giant tree, which allows tourists to enjoy the scenery of the coastal bay and the surrounding gardens
Supertree Grove artificial rain forest
In 2012, a group of "artificial iron trees" called "Supertree Grove" were erected in the Marina Bay Garden of Singapore. These 18 tree-shaped buildings drew inspiration from the dominant tree species in the tropical rainforest. They combine the shape and function of adult trees, which can not only support the growth of plants, but also simulate the ecological function of trees through the characteristics of environmental sustainability. Part of the "canopy" of the giant tree is installed with photovoltaic cells, which can absorb solar energy for night lighting, and other "canopy" are connected with the plant cold room system as exhaust outlets.
The incredible solar giant tree is located in the Marina Bay Garden of Singapore. This is a huge greenhouse covering an area of 613 mu. Soon, 226000 plants and flowers from all over the world will settle down here. The Marina Bay Garden is designed by Grant Associates, a British landscape architecture company. The 18 towering super giant trees in the garden act as vertical gardens. They can collect rainwater, use solar photovoltaic cells to generate electricity, and act as ventilation pipes for greenhouses.
The most striking part of the Marina Bay Garden is the huge tree-shaped structure, which is between 25 meters and 50 meters high, and is called "Supertree Grove". There are 18 giant trees, which act as vertical gardens, covered with tropical flowering climbers, epiphytes and ferns. During the day, Supertree Grove and its huge canopy block the sun and form shade to help maintain the proper temperature. In the evening, the canopy shows its birth and vitality with special lighting and projected media content. Among these giant trees, 11 will be installed with solar photovoltaic cells and a series of water-related technologies. The former is used for power generation to meet the lighting needs, and the latter is responsible for helping to cool the greenhouse.
