Brunei is rich in oil and gas, with oil and gas production and exports accounting for approximately 67% of GDP, and was ranked 5th in Asia in 2014 in terms of GDP per capita, and 2nd in Asia excluding the Gulf region, behind Singapore. The country is known globally for its wealth and excellent social welfare system.
